Damn You, Andy!!

Heading to Sunday the 5th of July did you give Andy Roddick a chance?? Really, you thunk in your heart of hearts he would slay the giant? He had tried 7 times before in Grand Slams and lost all 7. Why was this to be different? Roddick was 19-2 all time against Roger. Why did so many of us give him hope?? I cheered and wanted the American to come out on top! Maybe looking back we should appreciate seeing the Greatest of all time win another title? It was after all his 20th Grand Slam Final and 6th in a row. Federer became just the 3rd man in the last 40 years to win Wimbledon and the French in the same year joining Borg and Nadal. He served 50 aces on Sunday?? I know, it just feels like Roger is the Patriots! How long can he stay there?? Think Roddick feels like Karl Malone or Stockton? What does he have to do? Sampras considers him the greatest and at only 27 I have to be certain much more frustration lies ahead for Roddick. Perhaps the 3-6 4th was what had us on the edge of our seats and believing? Damn You, Andy!! Why do that to us??

Damn You, Andy!!

Random Thoughts

With the College World Series wrapping up and football over a month away, it's a little quiet in the sports world. We are looking for your thoughts on a variety of topics, you choose. Crowds were up at the CWS in Omaha, were you as interested this year with perennial powers Texas and LSU fighting for the national title. The US Open goes to Lucas Glover. Will Tiger or Phil win a major this year, I say yes....take Tiger in the British. It's nice to have an underdog win, but not all the time. The funny thing, or sad for some, is that when Tiger and Phil and not winning neither are Sergio or Furyk or Adam Scott or Vijay, etc, etc, etc. This is their chance. Tiger recovering from knee surgery and Phil's life turned upside down with Amy's cancer. Will someone step up?

Major League Baseball is on the front burner, fitting since the temps are in the high 90's!! Everyone is bashing the Cubs, yet they are just 2 1/2 back. The Royals early season run ended a month ago. Every winning streak seems to be equaled by a longer losing streak!! It's Boston and New York in the east again. Do you see any team making a run in the second half and surprising the baseball world?? Let us know, we always value your opinion.

Just some random thoughts today....add yours!!!

OMAHA!!

Remember the disappointment of falling short of destination Omaha? Remember being so close but knowing a whole year awaits until we could dream again? Remember falling short in Palo Alto? Remember the euphoria of sending Rice back to Houston that first trip we made? Remember Miami melting under the sun at Hawks Field? Remember the expectations of our program? Mike Anderson says he hopes those expectations never fade! I guess in my mind I am sad that the year ended without those expectations. Hell, no one cared? No one can name 4 position players. I'm begging coach A, you have to return those expectations not only for your job, but so all of us can remember how to dream again!!! Big Daddy

Texas...That's It??!?!?!?

The first week of the NCAA baseball tournament is in the books. The Big 12 had a nation leading 8 teams selected for the 64 team field. How many are left??? ONE...and that's the overall number one seed Texas, who needed an 8-run 9th inning to beat the 4-seed ARMY. Now, if Texas is the top seed in the nation, doesn't that make Army the worst team in the field??? So... Texas eeks out a win over the worst team in the field, and the other 7 Big 12 teams don't make it out of the first weekend of play. Am I supposed to buy that the Big 12 was tough this season? There was no dominant team in the conference this year, and that showed this past weekend. If this happened in the men's bb tournament, or the conference went 1-7 in bowl games, everyone would be trashing the conference. Why doesn't the same hold true for baseball??!?

Your thoughts?

Don't forget to share your thoughts on the blog, or by joining us for the 'Doug and Daddy Show' weekdays from 11-Noon.

He Has To Return!

Roll call for Vikings fans, Tarvarias, Sage, even John David? Seriously, anyone think realistically that any of those 3 can lead you to the Super Bowl? No, well then why all the animosity and anger towards the return of a Legend? Yes, number 4!! Every year at this time the competitive juices start flowing and the passes start flying albeit at a high school in Mississippi. Everyone knows he wants a piece of Green Bay! Hell, he would play them 4 times a year if the schedule would allow. Not even NFL fans in general want him back. In, out, whatever, just make up your mind they say. The guy was 8-3 at one point last year. A 6 TD performance vs. the NFC Super Bowl Cardinals. Then he got hurt. Minnesota has a better running game. A better defense. Lets get on board and see if Farve could be the one to put them over the top!!
Oh, you think those kids in Miss. even know who he is? Just heard they aint all that bite down there? Big Daddy
