Postseason and New Season
In the sports world we are reaching another crossroads, where one season ends as another begins. Locally the high school winter sports season is winding down as district basketball continues. Nebraska comes off a big hoops win over Kansas St, but I believe the excitement will be short lived as they travel to Texas A&M on Saturday. The Nebraska baseball team opens up the 2008 season on Friday at Stanford. We had both starting pitchers on the show Thursday, Thad Weber and Jeremy Bleich, and both have something to prove for there respective teams this season. Not much is expected from this year's Nebraska baseball team. The Big 12 coaches selected them 6th and some, including Daddy, think that may be too high! Stanford also looks to bounce back after a subpar season last year. The 2 teams play a doubleheader Friday starting at 4. Looking forward to some great district finals over the next few days and a few area teams are hoping the ball bounces the right way to qualify via the wild card. Enjoy the games!

Clemens,Wrestling,etc
As Roger Clemens sits before Congress today, I can harldy watch. I'm not sure I care. I hope Clemens is innocent, even though he's been a Yankee part of his career. His performances, statistics and years in the game are all astounding. Now all can be washed away in a scene that reminds me of "All the President's Men". How boring and long these hearings are, with most of the Congress given facts by their aides with no real knowledge of the facts. Do you care? Will you watch?
On another note...it's an exciting time of the year on the high school scene...POSTSEASON. The state wrestling tournament is this weekend, and I will be in Omaha covering this great event. I believe the single greatest moment in high school sports is the 'Parade of Champions' which occurs every Saturday before the finals. Don't forget we'll provide coverage all weekend with the semifinals live on Friday night on 98.9FM.

Don't wait till March!!
With the temp. a mere 9 degress with a wind chill of -18 on PHAT Tuesday I took it upon myself to settle into my couch and catch a little college basketball. If you missed the second half of the Tennessee/ Florida game lets just say you missed out!! Chris Lofton along with JaJaun Smith and Tyler Smith will get your blood flowing. The trio combined to score 72 of the 104 pts the Vols put up with Lofton and J. Smith hitting 12 3's!! 60 points were scored in the second half for Bruce Pearl's Vol's while Billy Donovan stood in shock. This Tenn. team left the tourney early just a year ago but with only 2 losses this season, both on the road at Texas and Kentucky, I say this is a real contender come March. All this on the eve of UNC vs. Duke in perhaps the greatest rivalry in sports!! Dick V. back on the sideline can it get any better?? People, I hear all the time "I really don't pay attention until March gets here." To that I say, you are missing out on one of the finest and deepest college basketball seasons in a long time!!!
